To See What They Could See

Ding Dong, We’re in Hong Kong!

We left around 11AM Monday morning, November 11th, 2024; After a long journey from Boston, along the Arctic Circle, Hudson Bay, the Baltic Sea and the Pacific Ocean, we finally made it to Hong Kong and checked into the hotel, The Grand Harbour Kowloon.

The first leg of our journey was with Japan Airline. Their Business Class with full lay-down seating was wonderful. The connecting flight on Cathay Pacific from Toyko to Hong Kong was also great; Professional kind staff and attentive service…who could ask for more?

We didn’t sleep much on the planes and after approximately a 24-hour journey, we were exhausted, and I can admit that we were not our normal selves.

Tuesday morning, we took a ferry ride from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island. We visited Victoria Peak to get great views of Victoria Bay. We boarded a sampan for a quick ride around a floating fisherman’s village and then headed back to the hotel for a few hours of rest. Tuesday evening was a fun night out at the Happy Valley racetrack to watch the horses. This may be the only gambling allowed in Hong Kong, so the stadium is pretty big and holds 10k people. The final two races were cancelled due to a small thing called a typhoon or should I say 4 typhoon storms threatening to meet up together. Restaurants were closed for the night, so we ordered room service, and after that we finally got some sleep.
