The International Power Couple

To See What They Could See

Miss Saigon

Landed in Phu My (Gateway to Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam 🇻🇳. Unfortunately, Elise and I both have a cough today, but we marched on. We booked a private tour to Ho Chi Minh City Center. We met our driver and our tour guide, Lin. Our first stop was the “new” Imperial Palace. Darn Americans blew up the first one. The next stop was the post office.  The outside looked French and had Hermes above the doors.  The interior was Grand Central Station’esk. We stopped to take a picture of the CIA building where many people were evacuated by helicopters at the end of the war.  On to the Vietnam War Museum, where we saw all sorts of abandoned US tanks and machinery. On the second floor, we checked out the War Crimes and the Agent Orange exhibits; absolutely horrorfying. On that pleasant note, we went to lunch at a Michelin Star restaurant for Pho. It was delicious! We made a pitstop for some shopping and then wrapped up our day at a Chinese Pagoda. In both directions, traffic was scary, way worse than in Rome. More people,  more container trucks, and a huge number of fearless,  scooter driving people. The ride from the port to the city was 2 hours,  and only 1 1/2 hours to return. Cảm ơn Vietnam!
